Twin Leaves II
I love this popular pattern but the absence of a final, whole leaf always bothered me! So I worked out a bottom and 2 top leaf options for this chain of twin leaves. Now I feel better. LOL
I worked Barbara G. Walker’s pattern in A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns, p.235. Her version had no side edges, so I added 3 reverse stockinette edge stitches on each side. There’s a choice of leaf tops: “relaxed” or “alert”. If using the “relaxed” leaf top, the leaves can be nested, i.e. the next leaf is started before the leaf below is completed. Feel free to work columns of leaves in numbers that are significant to you!
Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, YO, kf&b, k2tog, SSK and pass (see notes), SK2P and bind off in knit stitch.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
50 yards of Lion Brand 24/7 will make 10 inches of a 28-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
