Twinings Gradient Shawl
Living leaves grow from a simple, satisfying garter stitch crescent beginning - no short rows anywhere!
Both written and charted instructions available for the lace section. A great first lace project.
Yarn: 4ply weight yarn in the amounts below, shown in:
- 350m (380yds) of CC: Sylvan Tiger Yarn Lethera Shetland Gradients, 100% British Shetland, 350m (380yds) per 100g in shade: Grass Green (Note: Shawl used almost a full gradient set. To be safe, make sure you have extra yardage available.)
Needles: 5.5mm (US 9) — 80cm (32in) circular needle
Notions: stitch markers (if desired, for marking lace pattern repeats)
Gauge (given after blocking):
• 22 sts and 26 rows per 10cm (4in) over Twining Leaves Pattern
Finished Measurements:
• 42cm (16.5in) deep and 96.5cm (38in) wide along top edge
Blocking
Shetland yarn benefits from wet blocking, as this helps the yarn to bloom. To wet block, soak finished item in cold water with a little soap or alternative until thoroughly wet. Rinse out soap if needed. Squeeze out as much water from the piece as you can. Lay flat and pin out or stretch to finished measurements.
