I modified an 1840 stitch pattern to make it look tidier. The original pattern called for twisting every stitch in every row which didn’t look that tidy to me. My pattern has a 2-stitch, 2-row repeat – very simple once you get started! The twist stitch will pull in the knitting slightly. Blocking can reverse this.

Skills needed: cast on, knit, purl, twist stitch (see notes) and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

50 yards of Lion brand 24/7 yarn will make 10 inches of a 26-stitch-wide strip at gauge.
