CONSTRUCTION NOTES
This hat is the perfect canvass for displaying the vintage pin I inherited from my great grandmother, but it also looks good unadorned. There are two primary components. First, the brim is worked flat in a long rectangular piece with a twist in the middle, and the two short ends of the rectangle are grafted together. The body of the hat is then worked by picking up stitches along the top edge of the brim and knitting in the round.

NEEDLES, NOTIONS, & YARN
I used one set of US size 6 (4 mm) double-pointed needles (dpns). You may want o use a pair of US size 6 straight needles for the brim, but dpns will suffice if you’re careful not to drop stitches off the end. You’ll also need 6 stitch markers to be used in the BODY section of the pattern. Pictured is approximately three quarters of one skein of Cascade Superwash 220 in Feather Grey, but any soft worsted-weight yarn would be a fine substitute.
