Twisted Brioche Hearts
After my first shawl, I got a taste for shawl knitting and just had to make another one! This shawl is a triangular shawl in full brioche, with an edging that came out just perfect! There are a few tricky stitches, but I hope you will learn something new and that you will enjoy knitting it!
If you want to get the perfect hearts, I’ve come up with some new stitches to remove the CC yarn from showing at the decreases. To help you, I’ve added a picture tutorial section as a separate download as well as a few helpful links.
Good luck and happy knitting!
Yarn: Drops Merino Extra Fine 50g (1.76 ounces)/105m (115 yards), colours MC: Off White (01) and CC: Mustard (30). You can use any other DK yarn, or any other weight with the corresponding recommended needles, but note that this will affect the finished size.
Needles: 4.0 mm/US 6.0, or size needed to obtain gauge. 60-120 cm/32’’ circular needle
Gauge: 14 stitches and 17 rows for 10x10 cm patterned brioche after stretching and blocking (around 19x22 unblocked) Note that gauge is not that important but it will affect finished size.
Yardage: MC (Off White): 390m (425yds) CC (Mustard): 370m (405yds)
Finished size: 180 cm wingspan & 90 cm high at deepest point. Finished size depends a lot on how much you stretch it when blocking
Other tools: Tapestry needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker
