Gauge: In worsted weight, rounds 1 and 2 should measure 3.5 inches across to get a 3-6 mos size hat. I like to work at a fairly loose gauge, so using a smaller hook than gauge gives a good 0-3 mos size, and dk or sport weight yarn with an appropriately sized hook would make a lovely preemie hat.
