This handmade hat starts with a simple Granny Square and gets a funky twist to give it some texture.

Make it short and sweet, make it long and slouchy. The overall look of this hat is soft, relaxed, casual and comfy.

Made with 8 ply wool, it comes with easy to follow instructions. Once you get the hang of the 2-row repeated pattern you can go nuts and make scarves and other items with the same pattern.

The pattern includes instructions for both a rolled band and a ribbed one, and guides to different hat sizes.

8 ply wool

4 mm hook

Scissors

Wool needle.

tr- treble crochet

sc – single crochet (for an optional roll-up band)

fpt – Front post treble (see below for instructions)

bpt – Back post treble (for an optional band)
