Twisted Hat is knit from the bottom up in the round as a single piece. The edge is worked in twisted rib and the hat is then worked in a twisted stitch pattern using 2 cable needles. The crown is shaped with carefully placed decreases that allow the twisted stitch pattern to continue right to the top of the hat.

Sizes: To fit head circumference 49-51 (52-54) 55-57 (58-60) cm [19.25-20 (20.5-21.25) 21.75-22.5 (22.75-23.5) inches]

Hat circumference: approx. 40 (42.5) 45 (47.5) cm [15.75 (16.75) 17.75 (18.5) inches]

Knitting gauge:

Stocking stitch: 22 stitches x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in stocking stitch on a 4.00 mm [US6] needle, measured after washing and blocking of a swatch.

Gauge in Twisted stitch pattern: 25-26 stitches x 37 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] on a 4.00 mm [US6] needle, measured after washing and blocking of a swatch that is worked in the round. Note that in most cases, a swatch that meets the right gauge in stocking stitch should be sufficient if using a stretchy yarn. See note about choosing size further down.

Suggested needle size: 4.00 mm [US6] circular needle, 3.50 mm [US4] circular needle for ribbed edge, and 4.00 mm [US6] double-pointed needles to shape the crown of the hat if not using magic loop method.

Recommended yarn: 50-75 (50-75) 75-100 (75-100) g Drops Merino Extra Fine (DK, 50 g = 105 m [115yds]).
Additional: stitch marker, 2 cable needles, tapestry needle.

Note about choosing the right size:
Twisted Hat is designed as a snug fitting hat that hugs the head without sitting too tight. I recommend using a merino wool or another yarn type that has elastic properties as the twisted stitch pattern forms a compact knitted fabric that benefits from elasticity. As a rule of thumb, if you can stretch your swatch so that it is about 25 % bigger while you stretch it, then you should choose the hat size that matches your head circumference. If you choose a less elastic yarn, I recommend knitting the next size up.

Twisted Hat strikkes nedefra og op i et stykke. Kanten strikkes i drejet rib og huen strikkes derefter i et snoningsmønster ved hjælp af 2 snoningspinde. Huens top er formgivet med strategisk placerede indtagninger der sikrer at mønstret fortsætter helt op til toppen.

Note om valg af størrelse:
Twisted Hat er designet som en tætsiddende hue, der sidder godt til uden at være for stram. Jeg anbefaler merino eller en andet garnkvalitet med elastiske egenskaber, da mønstret danner et tætstrikket stof. Tommelfingerregelen for valg af størrelse: hvis du kan trække din vaskede strikkeprøve så den bliver ca. 25 % større imens du trækker den, burde du vælge den størrelse der passer til dit hovedomkreds.
