Twisted Knowledge Headband
I’ve written this pattern to teach my friend Jai how to knit. It’s packed full of the basics to kick off your knitting adventures. Beginning with a simple i-cord edge, then working sections of garter stitch, and stockinette stitch to enhance your knitting knowledge. I’ll teach how to work this pattern on social media live, demonstrating the long tail cast-on, knit bind-off, and all the intricacies, including how to read patterns. I want to thank my testers, April, Denise, Ericka, Mary, Sara, and Tracy for taking the time to test this pattern. Your feedback was amazing!
Notes:
This headband is worked flat until the desired length and seamed to make a twisted knot. I tension my yarn tight; if your tension is looser, you may want to gauge down to your liking. Your headband should have negative ease, meaning it should be about an inch smaller than the head circumference and easily stretch to fit.
Skill Level: Beginner
Pattern is written for a cup cozy, with changes for headband sizes (child, youth, adult small, and adult large) in parentheses.
Finished Circumference: 8” (14”, 16”, 18”, 19”) unstretched. Finished fabric is extremely stretchy and will fit 8-9” (14-15”, 16-17”, 18-19”, 19-20”)
Gauge: 8.5 sts x 13 rows = 2” x 2
