With this design Trudie set out to create a garment design that would flatter her figure. Her goal was to craft a cardigan that had sufficient ease in the lower body but was slightly fitted in the upper body. On completion of the design process, the cardigan consisted of a complex lacy bodice with a cabled and twisted rib pattern applied to the lower body. The moss stitch insert that is wrapped in cables is an intricate detail which guides the eye to the lace and cable twists in the bodice. The sleeve patterning consists of a twisted rib pattern borrowed from the lower body stitch pattern. Introducing the second color was a happy accident – Trudie was short on yarn but was determined to complete her garment using yarn from my stash. The garment would also be quite lovely knitted in a single color.
