While traveling in New Zealand, I looked for special yarns that I could introduce to the world through my designs. One such yarn is this Merino/Arapawa blend. Extremely soft and airy, it makes a lovely warm sweater while including fiber from a very unique breed of sheep, the Arapawa. With this beautiful yarn, I wanted to create a simple, yet elegant, design for a jumper. I hope you see the soft beauty in this that I do.

The Arapawa sheep is a rare breed, found only on Arapawa Island in the Marlborough Sound. How they came to live there is a mystery, but DNA research shows their closest relationship is to Gulf Coast sheep that descended from Spanish flocks and were brought to the southeast of North America around the 15th or 16th centuries.

The pattern includes 20 sizes, 2 sleeve lengths (3/4 and full length), and 3 body styles (Waist shaping, Straight, and A-Line). See photo for full size chart.
