It has become a tradition for me to design a Mandala to use as a CAL between Christmas and New Year (Twixmas). This is my Twixmas 2019, 2 to 3 rounds of the pattern will be revealed each day from 26th December to 31st December.

At this time of year, here in the northern hemisphere, the days are short and light levels low, so making a colourful mandala helps raise my mood. Whether you are busy over the Christmas season and would welcome a daily dose of relaxing colourful making, or quiet and would welcome a bright interlude each day, I hope this mandala CAL gives you some joy.

This mandala can be made in any yarn provided you use a suitably sized crochet hook. I prefer to use double knit (DK) yarn and a 4mm hook and the finished size for mine is about 21cm (8½”) across at the widest point. It uses small quantities of colourful yarn of your choice. The only colour design I would suggest is that rounds 2 and 4 should be the same colour and rounds 7, 9, and 11 should be the same colour – otherwise let your colour choice lead you to something magical!
