The dark brown scarf was made with
handspun alpaca yarn. The lighter brown swatch
was made with 1 skein of Blue Sky Alpacas Bulky
Naturals, a 50% alpaca, 50% wool blend yarn put
up in 100 gram skeins of approximately 45 yards
or 41 meters. It is 8.5 inches wide and 12 inches
long. For a 60” scarf, you would need 6 skeins of
this yarn, or 270 yards of another yarn that gives
the same gauge. For a 72” scarf, you would need
7 skeins or 315 yards. It would be a very
luxurious and warm scarf. Two or 3 skeins could
be used to make a nice cowl.
