The construction of this capelet is based on a saddle shoulder construction that extends to the bottom of the shawl. The back and fronts are knitted separately and top edges are shaped using short rows.
Stitches for the saddles are picked up along the sides of the back and fronts using a contrasting color and knit out. Then the back and fronts are joined using a three needle bind off.
Stitches for the garter edgings are picked up and knitted. Finally the collar is constructed of the main color and finished with the contrasting color.
I used these two specific yarns from my stash, but any soft sport weight yarn can be used. It could be made in just one color or using a combination of variegated and solid.
