Knit a big wrap with garter stitch chevrons and an understated ribbing pattern!

At its most massive dimensions, this wrap is a labor of love—easy to knit, but not a fast project— but this design’s .PDF includes cast-ons for scarf projects of a much more normal size as well.

The textured chevron stitch motif features garter stitch and narrow ribbing. The fabric is reversible, but not identical: on the back, it looks like a fairly basic garter stitch chevron pattern; on the front, the ribbing stands out more.

This project is designed around the use of scrap yarns, and would make a good template for your temperature scarf, keepsake scraps left from larger projects, and so on. (I’m going completely haphazard and knitting the largest size.)

Materials:

• 800-2000 yards Malabrigo Yarn Sock or similar substitute
• 1 24” circular needle in US3-4/3.25-3.5mm, or size needed for gauge.
• Tapestry needle

Gauge:
No official gauge! Unblocked st gauge for the sample is 15 sts in pattern over 2”/5cm.

Measurements:
As shown, the scarf-to-wrap options measure 10(14, 18, 22)“/25(36, 46, 56)cm wide; recommended lengths would be about about 60-72”/1.5-1.8m long. However, this project lends itself very well to customization—knit it to the length you prefer, and experiment with different gauges and yarns!
