I have two sisters…they are identical twins. Although they may look alike, if you know them you would see they are different too!

They were my inspiration when designing Two Sisters. Although both cowls used a sport weight yarn, each turned out a bit different. Both are reversible and each has a different border.

Two Sisters will give you versatility throughout the seasons…wear them together, long or doubled or wear them separately.

Sister #1 was knit using 3 balls of MillaMia Naturally Soft Merino in Fawn, using a US #6 (4mm) 32” (81cm) circular needle. Circumference after blocking is 58” (147 cm). Depth is 7” (18cm).

Sister #2 was knit using 2 balls of Grignasco Mousse in Cream, using a US #4 (3.5mm) 24” (61cm) circular needle. Circumference after blocking is 47” (119 cm). Depth is 10” (25cm).

Same but different…
Both of these yarns are listed as SPORT weight BUT a #6 (4mm) needle created a fabric that was too flimsy for Sister #2’s yarn choice. Then, even though I had almost the same length of yarn for each cowl, I was able to add an additional pattern repeat to Sister #2.

Hopefully this information will help you out when you try to switch yarns on a project then see that you don’t have enough yarn or that the suggested needle size is not working out.

This pattern includes detailed written instructions for each cowl. The main pattern is also charted.

In addition to the materials listed you will also need:
