Two Tone Tam
For blustery cold days there is nothing better than a hat with a double layer. Stranded knitting provides double layers and this is probably a good project to learn stranded knitting with. The pattern is easy to memorize and no floats are longer than 3 sts wide. The yarn is soft and warm too, but any fingering yarn will work.
