The Twotrack Hat features subtle, shallow earflap-style shaping paired with basic brioche ribbing. The written pattern features lots of photos and schematics, showing the dimensions of the finished hat and details of the shaping that makes this hat unique.

The pattern offers two sizes—knit the larger size st gauge for a larger hat for big-headed adults (24” head circumference), or use this version for a hat to fit the smaller range (21-23”) when working with finer sock yarns. Patons Kroy Socks works up like a light sport yarn for me, so there can be a pretty noticeable difference between this sock yarn and a lighter one.

Gauge:
Gauge is 22 sts and 48 rows over 4” in blocked garter st. Gauge is important to the fit of your hat, and the suggested needle size is just a starting point. Gauge is much more important than needle size. Be sure to check your gauge.
