Created in honor of the Chinese Year of the Tiger, this hat is worked in mosaic knitting, a technique created by Barbara Walker for knitting with two colors of yarn. Unlike stranded knitting, only one color is used on each round; the stitches of theother color are slipped. This makes it much simpler to work than stranded
knitting.

The slipped stitches cause the rounds to be compressed, creating a dense,warm fabric that is perfect for hats.

12¾ (16, 19¼, 22½)“/32.5 (40.5, 49, 57) cm circ, to fit Baby (Child,
Teen to Small Adult, Medium to Large Adult). Hat height: 6¼ (7¼,
8¼, 9¼)”/16 (18.5, 21, 23.5) cm. Recommend wearing with slight
negative ease of -2 to 0”/-5 to 0 cm.

Yarn #1 Super fine (sock, fingering), Main Color (MC) and Contrast Color (CC) EACH: 110 (130, 160, 190) yd/100 (120, 145, 175) m.
Shown in Dream in Color Smooshy (85% superwash merino wool, 15% nylon); 420 yd/385 m per 4 oz/113 g), MC #002 Black Pearl, CC #808 Tex Mex, each 1 skein.

Needles US Size 2 (2.75 mm) in preferred style for small circumference knitting in the round.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers, removable marker, tapestry needle.

Gauge
30 sts = 4” in stockinette st; 35 sts and 65 rows = 4” in mosaic patt.
Measure gauge on blocked swatch.
