SKILLS
To knit this bag / project bag you need to know how
to knit and purl, to knit in the round, to make increases
and decreases, to be familiar with the stranded colourwork
technique, to perform a provisional cast-on,
a three-needle-joint and kitchener bind-off, as well as
seaming stitches. You also need to have basic sewing
skills to sew a fabric lining and attach it to the bag.
Moreover, it is essential to be able to follow charted
instructions, as they are used for the colourwork detail
of the body of the bag and written instructions are not
provided.

CONSTRUCTION
This bag is knit from the top down, starting with a
provisional cast-on and making a picot edge. Two
or four buttonholes are worked into the top so that a
drawstring or cord can be passed through the casing
at the end for closure. Then the body of the bag is knit
in the round, with a stranded colourwork detail, and
finally the bottom of the bag is knit flat in two flaps,
which are joined at the centre with the kitchener method,
and the sides are seamed to the base at the end.
Finally, one or two cords are made, passed through
the top casing and finished with tassels, which allow
the bag to be closed as a drawstring bag.

GAUGE
26 stitches and 33 rounds in 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in
stockinette stitch, without blocking.
26 stitches and 32 rounds in 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in
colourwork motif, without blocking.
22 stitches and 30 rounds in 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4” in
colourwork motif, after blocking.

YARN
2 skeins, 1 in Colour 1 (main colour) and 1 in Colour 2
(contrast colour) of Merino Sport by La Bien Aimée
(100% Superwash Merino; 325 m / 100 g; 355 yd /
3.52 oz). With 2 skeins you will have enough yarn to
knit two bags with the same combination of colours or
inverted colours in any size.
The colourways used are Rust and Lipstick for the
ochre / pink version, and Bone and Blue Royal for the
taupe / blue version.

NEEDLES
3 mm US 2.5 circular needles for the plain sections
and 3.25 US 3 circular needles or the required needle
size to obtain gauge for the colourwork section,
with a cable length of 40 cm 16”. Another set of
needles (they can be a size smaller) to pick up the
stitches from the provisional cast-on.

OTHER NOTIONS
Leftover yarn in a similar weight for the provisional
cast-on.
1 stitch marker for the beginning of the round. Tapestry
needle to weave in ends.
Fabric for lining (cotton poplin is recommended), 24 x
44 cm 9.5 x 17.25”. Needle and matching thread.

NOCIONES PREVIAS
Para tejer este bolso / bolsita de labores es necesario
saber tejer punto del derecho, del revés, tejer en
circular, hacer aumentos y disminuciones, conocer
la técnica del colourwork y leer gráficos, el montaje
provisional, unir con tres agujas y el cierre con el método
kitchener y coser puntos, así como tener nociones
de costura con el fin de coser un forro interior. Es
imprescindible saber leer gráficos, ya que las instrucciones
para tejer el cuerpo del bolso con el detalle en
colourwork se dan únicamente en forma de gráfico.

CONSTRUCCIÓN
Este bolso se teje de arriba a abajo, comenzando con
un montaje provisional y haciendo un borde de picots.
En la parte superior se trabajan dos o cuatro ojales
por los cuales al final se pasará un cordón para cerrar
el bolso. Después se teje el cuerpo hasta la base del
bolso que se teje en plano, se cierra con el método kitchener
y se cosen los laterales de la base. Finalmente,
se hace un cordón o dos, que se pasan por el interior
del borde del bolso para cerrarlo, en los extremos de
los cuales se añaden borlas.

MUESTRA
26 puntos y 33 vueltas para una muestra de 10 x 10
cm 4 x 4” en punto jersey, sin bloquear.
26 puntos y 32 vueltas para una muestra de 10x10
cm 4 x 4” en el motivo del bolso, sin bloquear.
22 puntos y 30 vueltas para una muestra de 10x10 cm
4 x 4” en el motivo del bolso, después de bloquear.

HILO
2 madejas, 1 en color 1 (color principal) y otra en
color 2 (color de contraste) de Merino Sport de La
Bien Aimée (100% merino superwash; 325 m / 100
g; 355 yd / 3.52 oz).
Con dos madejas tienes suficiente para tejer dos
bolsos en la misma combinación de colores o en
colores invertidos.
Los colores utilizados son el Rust y el Lipstick para la
versión ocre / rosa y el Bone y el Blue Royal para la
versión topo / azul.

AGUJAS
Agujas circulares de 3 mm US 2.5 para la parte
lisa y de 3.25 US 3 o las necesarias para obtener la
muestra de tensión en colourwork y cable de 40 cm
16”. Otro juego de agujas (pueden ser un número
menor) para recuperar los puntos del montaje provisional.

OTROS ACCESORIOS
Restos de hilo en un grosor similar para el montaje
provisional. Un marcador para el inicio de vuelta.
Aguja lanera para rematar las hebras. Tela para forrar
el bolso de unas dimensiones de 24 x 44 cm 9.5 x
17.25”, se recomienda popelín. Aguja e hilo al tono.
