This lightweight, shapely pullover is knit in one piece on the bias. This creates diagonal striping around the entire top when using variegated yarn with long colorway sections (meaning each section of color in the yarn lasts of dozens if not hundreds of stitches). As the number of stitches per row increases or decreases, the colored stripes get narrower or wider. Some rows are a few stitches long, and some are a few hundred, so you get a lot of variation that will present the multi-colored yarn in a unique way.

Many patterns for knitting on the bias include one decrease/increase row for every two rows. With stockinette stitch, I find this does not create a 90-degree angle without a lot of blocking - and sometimes even blocking can’t turn a diamond into a square! This pattern uses two decrease/increase rows for every three rows. This creates a right angle at the gauge indicated.

The pattern is divided into 4 sections, each with row-by-row instructions. The only seams are the side seams along the sleeves and body. Twisted ribbing is then worked in the round along the neck edge, lower edge, and sleeve edges.

Experience level/techniques/sizing notes
Recommended for intermediate experience level. This pattern uses stockinette stich and twisted ribbing. The structure is non-traditional. There are many variations to the basic increasing/decreasing patterns that are presented with row-by-row instructions. Individual resizing, such as lengthen/shorten body or sleeves, is not recommended with this pattern; however, the sleeve and lower trim can be lengthened.
Due to the complexity of this pattern, I have not adjusted it for multiple sizes yet. If you are interested in this pattern in a specific size, please let me know!
