Inspiration

Uda means summer. When I first had the lovely Vegaknits Puro BAMBOO in my hands, I knew I needed to make something lacey with it, to highlight its drape and shine. It was the perfect yarn to work with during the first summer days, when the heat started to settle and the hands craved something fresh. I wanted to create a piece that could be worn over the shoulders on warm summer nights, to complement summery dresses. But I also wanted it to be a versatile and comfortable piece. Enter buttons: one at the neckline to prevent it from slipping off your shoulders, optional ones at the underarms to create sleeves and the feeling of wearing a bolero.

Construction

The Uda capelet has a simple, seamless construction. It is worked top-down, shaped with raglan increases, surrounded by built-in garter stitch bands. It is worked in an all-over big, open, lace motif, for which instructions are provided both written and charted. It requires very little finishing: working a button loop with a crochet hook (using the tail from the cast-on edge), weaving in ends, and optionally sewing in snap buttons or sewing the raglan lines together at the bottom to create sleeves.

Techniques

Long tail cast-on, garter stitch, knitting, purling, increasing (make one right and left), simple lace pattern (yarn over, double and simple decreases), charted lace instructions (written instructions are provided too), simple bind-off, crochet chain and slip stitch.

Inspiración

Uda significa verano. Cuando tuve en mis manos el delicado hilo Puro BAMBOO de Vegaknits, sabía que quería tejer una pieza con calados, para resaltar su caída y su brillo. Fue la lana perfecta para tejer los primeros días de verano, cuando el calor empezó a asentarse, y las manos pedían algo fresco. Quería crear una pieza que se pudiese echar por los hombros en las cálidas noches de verano, para complementar los vestidos veraniegos. Pero también quería que fuese una pieza versátil y cómoda. Por eso los botones: uno en el cuello para evitar que se resbale mientras la llevas puesta, corchetes opcionales en las axilas si quieres crear unas mangas y llevarla tipo bolero.

Construcción

La capelina Uda tiene una construcción simple y sin costuras. Se teje de una sola pieza de arriba abajo, dándole forma con aumentos raglán, rodeada de bandas de punto bobo integradas en el tejido (no se tienen que levantar puntos). Se teje en un motivo de punto calado grande, abierto, para el cual hay tanto instrucciones escritas como en gráfico. Se requiere muy poco acabado: se construye un ojal a ganchillo (aprovechando el hilo que queda del montaje), se rematan los hilos, y opcionalmente se cosen unos corchetes en la parte inferior de las líneas de raglán para crear unas mangas.

Técnicas

Montaje de hebra larga, punto bobo, punto derecho y revés, aumentos (a la izquierda y a la derecha), sencillo motivo calado (hebra, disminuciones dobles y simples), en gráfico o instrucciones escritas, cierre simple, cadeneta en ganchillo y punto enano.
