I designed this hat for my husband. I did not have time to make an Ugly Christmas sweater so here’s my quick free pattern to make an Ugly Christmas Beer Hat!

Yarn: Daily DK by Willow Yarns, DK / 8 ply, 100% Superwash Wool, 284 yards / 100 grams, 1 skein Clover (green), Canna Lilly (Red), Ice (white).

Needles: Circular US 3 (3.25 mm), US 5 (3.75mm) and US 6 (4 mm) circular needle length 20 in, DPNs or magic loop for decreasing rows.

Notions: markers (m), tapestry needle.

Gauge: 17 stitches and 23 rounds = 4 inches in Stockinette stitch on larger needles.

Notes:

• The hat is knit in the round starting from the bottom.
• I used the stranded color technique and twisted the working colors every 2 to 3 stitches to avoid long loops.
• I used size US 3 for brim, US 5 for solid color rounds and US 6 for the stranded color rounds. I used my small tips interchangeable needle set and easily switched tips when necessary.
• The pattern includes for directions how to knit the hat and for the graphics only charts. But they are simple to follow.
