A tartan mitt with a slip stitch vertical stripe. Both full mitt and fingerless versions included.

The slip stitch means there are fewer rounds to knit with 2 colours, which keeps tangles to a minimum. So if you’re new to colourwork, this is a good pattern to try!

It’s a great stash-buster, using about 30g of your main colour, and 20g of the other two colours - use any DK yarn you have lying around. That’s why I used the orange/grey/purple combination, which I actually quite like but my son declared as Ugly.

They are fairly quick to knit because your interest is maintained with the colour changes. A couple of evenings TV knitting and you have another gift for a lucky recipient.

Size: Small/med woman. Size can be adjusted by adding a pattern rpt (4sts) to the main body, and by knitting to the length desired. Also, more aggressive blocking will not only produce a bigger mitt, but will also smooth out your stitches beautifully.
