Uhura
This is the first shawl in the Women of Sci-Fi Collection
An asymmetrical shawl inspired by Uhura from Star Trek: The Original Series.
The body of the shawl is interrupted by ‘hailing frequencies’ stitches resembling signal waves which represents the classic line said by Uhura. We end the shawl by knitting a practical border on the Final Frontier - the edge of the shawl. This allows you to utilise the wormholes’ worked to style your shawl. Overall, the shape of the shawl resembles the communicator badges worn by the crew
You need 100g of Yarn A, and 50g of Yarn B.
The finished shawl is really fun to wear, the unusual shape can be worn a number of ways but my favourite is to fold the shawl lengthways along the central spine and wrap around my neck and pull the tails of the shawl through the ‘wormholes’ along the side of the shawl.
