These legwarmers are inspired by the traditional Saami woven bands that are worn around the ankles with traditional shoes. The colourwork motif and colours are based on Inari Saami womens ankle band pattern.

Sample is knit with Gjestal Maija (85% wool, 15% nylon, 130m / 142yds – 50g) in colours 201 black (MC), 209 red (CC1) and 212 green (CC2).

Needles
2.5mm / US1.5, DPNs or preferred needle type for
knitting small circumferences.

Stitch markers, tapestry needle.

Gauge
28 sts and 30 rounds = 10cm / 4” with 2.5mm / US1.5 needle in colourwork pattern, measured from blocked and relaxed fabric.
