CONSTRUCTION
This is a new way of looking at a pattern, where you are guided by your own body. First step, which is essential, is to find out your gauge, because that is how you will calculate your cast on stitches.

Knit a 6 x 6-inch square in stocking stitch. Give it a 10-minute soak and then spread it out and leave to dry naturally. Then, measure how many stitches are in a row in the central 4 inches and divide by 4 to give you your stitch gauge per inch. You can use this as a pocket, so don’t fret and think it’s a waste of time. Everything runs from here.
