YARN: Any weight yarn in one or more colors. Yardage requirements are based upon 100g hanks of superwash merino wool in standard weights.
Fingering: 50–65g
Sport: 60—70g
DK: 75–85g
Worsted: 80—90g
Aran: 85—95g
GAUGE: Gauge isn’t important as you’ll be using measurements.
HOOK: Ranges are listed. As gauge doesn’t matter, choose a hook size that results in a fabric you prefer.
Fingering: 4mm (US G), 4.5mm (US 7), or 5mm (US H)
Sport: 4.5 mm (US 7) or 5mm (US H)
DK: 5.5 mm (US I) or 6mm (US J)
Worsted: 6mm (US J) or 6.5 mm (US K)
Aran: 6.5mm (US K) or 7 mm
SIZE: Finished measurements will be approximately 11” high x 22” circumference (Cowl size can be customized by working more or fewer repeats in the body and collar sections.)
NOTIONS: Yarn needle (for weaving in ends); Removable stitch marker (for marking RS)
MISC: Pattern has been written using US crochet terminology. Cowl is worked flat bottom-up and then in the round for the neck/collar. Cowl is reversible, with the contrast color(s)—if any are used—being more prominent on the RS.
