Under Ice is a quick knit toque that has a variety of textures to create a warm, comforting hat for cold days.

The design and name are inspired by Kate Bush’s “The Ninth Wave,” from her album, “Hounds of Love.” The story tells the tale of a survivor of a ship crash that is floating alone in the sea at night.

It’s wonderful.
Everywhere, so white.
The river has frozen over.
Not a soul on the ice.
Only me skating fast.
I’m speeding past trees,
Leaving little lines in the ice,
Splitting, splitting sound,
Silver heels spitting, spitting snow.

There’s something moving
Under, under the ice,
Moving under ice,
Through water,
Trying to get out of the cold water.
“It’s me.”
Something, someone--help them.
“It’s me.”

The entire suite of music is a truly stunning collection of poetry, storytelling, and music. I hope this hat comforts you through your cold, hard times.
