This pattern is for an Undercover Mix & Match Cat…

  • Choose from a selection of different designs for the arms, legs, heads and body sections to make a wide range of cats from a single pattern.

  • The cat is the same size as my ‘mouse in a suitcase’ series of designs meaning that you can substitute the cat into any of these designs and the mouse’s clothing / costumes will fit the cat too!

  • The pattern includes a mouse costume for your cat to wear to go undercover with its mouse friends!

  • The head and body are made in one piece joining the ears and arms as you go, so it involves minimal assembly (just attaching the feet and tail)!

  • The pattern contains lots of photos to help you every step of the way. It is written in English, using American crochet terms. All of my patterns have been independently tested prior to publication.

You will need:
Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used King Cole Cherished DK (equivalent to weight 3 / light worsted weight) and my finished cat measures approximately 10cm tall. Please ensure that you use the same weight yarn throughout your project.

For a single colour cat with plain arms, plain legs, a plain head & body, you will need the following colours / quantities:

  • Grey - used for all sections, I used shade ’silver’ (approx. 36m).

For a cat with 2-colour arms & legs, a muzzle head & a plain body with a tummy patch you will need the following colours / quantities:

  • Cream - for the paws, muzzle & tummy patch, I used shade ‘stone’ (approx. 7m).
  • Ginger - for all remaining sections, I used shade ‘mustard’ (approx. 30m).

For a Siamese style cat with plain arms & legs, a circle head & a plain body, you will need the following colours / quantities:

  • Brown - for the arms, legs , tail & face (approx. 19m).
  • Beige - for all remaining sections (approx. 17m).

For a tuxedo style cat with 2-colour arms & legs, a tuxedo head & body, you will need the following colours / quantities:

  • White - for the paws & tuxedo face & body sections (approx. 7m).
  • Black - for all remaining sections (approx. 29m).

For the mouse costume, you will need the following colours / quantities:

  • Pink - for the paws, ears & nose (approx. 9m).
  • Main colour - for all remaining sections (approx. 20m).

Please note = The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.

You will also need:

  • A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.
  • 6mm black safety eyes.
  • Some toy stuffing.
  • A small amount of finer yarn or thread in both your chosen nose & eye colours.
  • A small amount of finer yarn or thread for adding any stripes (this step is optional).
  • Some clear nylon thread / sewing cotton of your choice for adding the whiskers.
  • A metal brush (such as a pet brush) if you want to make your cat fluffy (this is optional).
  • Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some pins, scissors and some stitch markers.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself.
Thank you.
