This pattern uses a very small amount of some colors - as little as ten yards, depending on the tails you leave and your gauge (which is hopefully more consistent than mine).
Theoretically, you need 3 skeins of each MC and 1 skein of each CC (6 colors) but really, you only need about 10 - 15 yards each of yellow and blue and maybe 20 yards of red. So, if you have leftovers of these standard colors in a worsted weight wool, this is a good way to use them up.
