A frilled triangular shawl knit horizontally to show off self-striping yarn. The frill is knit as you go and has a picot edge - that frill is formed with short rows and wrap-and-turn stitches. Because the shawl is knit in garter stitch, the wrapped stitches don’t have to be picked up subsequently - so this a good project for knitters who have never done wrap-and-turn before.

The shawl can be adapted for different weights and amounts of yarn. You begin at one point and follow the pattern to increase the width of the shawl until half of your yarn is gone; then you use the decreasing instructions to work to the other point. In fingering weight (or sock yarn) 400m makes a scarf, while 750 to 800m makes a good-sized shawl.

The pattern includes written instructions. No chart is necessary.
