A little storybook wall hanging and color chart, inspired by the iconic medieval Unicorn Rests in a Garden tapestry. This download comes with 2 size charts in both printer-friendly black & white and in color, plus a chart for a small crest featuring a flower picked from the unicorn’s garden.

The chart can be used in knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, or any other grid-based craft. The download includes suggested gauge, yarn, stranded knitting colorwork tips with links to resources, and instructions on how to turn the chart into a wall hanging.

Recommended yarn & needle size: Cascade 220 Sport with US 5 (3.75 mm) needles with a gauge of 20st & 26 rows in 4” (10 cm). Download includes instructions on making sure you have the right gauge, and how to calculate finished size, if you substitute for another yarn weight/needle combo.

If worked with the suggested gauge, the finished dimensions of the chart will be:
Small: 10.5” width, 11.25” height (26.5 cm x 28.5 cm)
Large: 12.25” width, 12.5” height (31 cm x 32 cm)
The tapestry will have an extra 1” (2.5 cm) of width, and 1.75” (4.5 cm) of width due to the finishing edges.

Note: the tapestry photo shows how to finish and hang the chart as a tapestry, which is described in this download. The chart in that sample has been improved since then; see the next photo for an example of the final chart.
