Unisox
Unisox is a unisex sock pattern that features five different sizes. Whether you have tiny adult women’s feet (starting at about a size 4) or large men’s feet (up to about a size 12), you’ll find a size in this pattern that will be a perfect fit! Foot circumferences are given and choosing a size should be based on these rather than just looking at “women’s medium” or “men’s small”.
Unisox are worked from the toe up with a short-row heel, and are written for double-pointed needles, although converting the pattern to magic loop or two circular needles is a snap for experienced sock knitters. Two big advantages to toe-up construction is that you can begin with your yarn divided in half and just work the leg until it’s gone (no more sweating the last inch worried that you’ll run out of yarn!) And, you can try on the toe of the sock as you go, so you’ll know within a couple inches whether the size you chose is going to be a good fit for your feet.
For the adventurous beginner, video links are included for Judy’s Magic Cast-On, working wrap & turns, working “make 1” increases, and for binding off with Jeny’s Super-Stretchy Bind-Off.
This pattern assumes that you understand how to knit in the round on double pointed needles, and how to purl. The cable pattern is a simple one, and detailed instructions are given explaining how to work each step. All instructions are written, not charted.
