ABOUT:

This pattern was created for the inaugural Crochet Tournament 2020, organised by Crochet Australia with patterns from Shelley Husband Spincushions, Joy Clements Crochetroad and Emily Littlefair The Loopy Stitch.

This pattern contains over 20 different stitches, step-by-step photos, written instructions and a chart.

SKILL LEVEL:

This pattern was originally designed to be the ‘Advanced’ heat of the tournament. It contains minimal repeated rounds, texture and will require you to focus a little more than some of my other patterns. I do try to write all of my patterns so that any skill level can give them ago. Without challenge, we cannot change or grow.

GAUGE:

This pattern required a gauge square for the competition as the finished size of the squares were initially taken into account. In saying that, as long as you don’t change your hook or yarn throughout, gauge is not overly important.

If you do like to do a gauge swatch, it’s in the pattern and a solid granny square finishing at end of round 4 measures 9.5cm unblocked.

MATERIALS:

Your choice of yarn and corresponding hook size
Yarn needle and scissors
Block equipment if desired - not required
Fiddlesticks Superb 8 was used in the photos in the pattern

WHAT CAN I MAKE FROM THIS SQUARE?:

You could also make a cushion, blanket, curtains, wall hanging, a poncho, shawl… anything that involves joining squares.
