Unless was designed to showcase a special homespun yarn that was gifted to me by a very good friend. I wanted to find a way to let the subtle color shift and twist in the homespun shine in a way that would also let me to show how soft and lofty the yarn was. I paired the homespun with a mill spun yarn from the same farm and artist who had dyed the fiber that became my homespun.

I chose a subtle mosaic pattern with a simple stitch to work the body of the shawl and finished it with a border of eyelet and garter rows. This makes it very easily adapted for different yarn weights and the variations in fibers and spins. This is the perfect project for adventurous knitters to try their hand at mosaic or for the spinner to showcase their beautiful creations.

Middle Brook Fiberworks Vintage No. 8 40/40/10 Wool/Silk/Ramine
284 yards/261 meters per 100 grams. 2 skeins were used for the white (C2) along with approximately 550 yards/502 meters per 200 grams of homespun yarn in a similar sport to DK weight for the green (C1).

Or use a similar sport to DK weight yarn of your choosing. Choose two skeins of similar yardage in each of two colors with contrast in solids, semi solids or variegated color ways.
