A perfect gift for men or women!

This design came about because I was looking for a good, basic cowl that didn’t fit too tightly, wasn’t too difficult, and was going to be useful for both men and women. I hadn’t planned to design my own! Using a washable worsted/aran-weight yarn, the cowl is knit with ribs, knit rows and purl rows – sitting nicely around the neck without strangling the clothes (or neck) underneath. The wrist-warmers are perfect for keeping warm when you have to wear a suit jacket or fancy dress and use up the rest of the yarn. A good, basic pattern!

This design is done completely in the round -- a good way to practice this technique if you don’t do it often. You’ll need both US#8 circs (16”) and dpns.

• cowl: height at rest= 4”; height stretched out = 7”; circumference = 18” at ribbing, 22” at widest stripe
• wrist-warmers: cuff length = 3-1/2”; circumference = 7” at rest, 10” stretched
