Unruly Klee
This shawl is inspired by Paul Klee’s intriguing painting “Head of a Man,” which captures the essence of abstraction and whimsy through its bold lines and playful
The Unruly Klee’s shawl is an asymmetrical, triangular shawl that features a series of geometric shapes and flowing lines, reminiscent of the contours seen in Klee’s work. The shawl is worked in a boomerang shape. It combines varying stitch patterns to create texture and depth, emulating the layered elements of Klee’s painting.
To capture the vibrant spirit of Klee’s color choices, this shawl utilizes a palette of warm and rich ochre tones.
Garter Stitch defines the base of the shawl, creating a squishy, textured backdrop.
Stockinette Sections flowing lines of stockinette stitch weave through the shawl, representing the smooth curves seen in Klee’s lines.
When completed, the shawl measures approximately 39 inches wide and 33 1/2 inches deep, making it a versatile accessory that can be wrapped around the shoulders or draped stylishly.
Choose a soft, lightweight yarn in a blend of merino wool for warmth and drape. Suggested weight is fingering but dk to Worsted would work as well, I would suggest using the recommended needle size (yardage would also differ).
- This pattern is suitable for advanced beginners/intermediate knitters.
- Suggestions for color combinations and alternative stitch patterns are included to encourage personal creativity and interpretation of Klee’s art.
