Untitled 1600
This is a special frankensock, developed over seven years. Frankensocks are socks made of leftover yarns from previous sock projects. This one resembles collaged scraps taken from Mary Shelley’s Daemon himself. The cuff could represent a hat or his hair. Below the cuff are represented fragments of his body and clothes, rearranged in patchwork. The lower section of patchwork represents the neck, with the Daemon’s name-stamp on the back. Below the neck is his collar, with picot holes under it, so you can thread a ribbon to represent his cravat. Below the collar you can see a section of his stocking. The heel and foot of the frankensock represent the Daemon’s buckle shoe.
The pattern is written for 4 x dpns, but an experienced knitter could substitute 2 x circular needles.
Required skills are intarsia, fairisle, lace-knitting, seaming, chain stitch and duplicate stitch embroidery. Although this would be easy (although time-consuming) for an experienced knitter with the above skills, it is not recommended for the beginner. Beading is optional.
