A beautifully geometric shawl, the fern motif is based on that seen in the Filmy Fern Shawl (Wrapped in Lace, Interweave Press 2010). More accessible than Margaret’s more complex heirloom shawl patterns, the Unwind Shawl is an interesting yet not overly difficult knit.

Options for small and large sizes.

Small size: 93cm wide x 38cm deep
Larger size using 3ply and 3mm needles, doing one extra repeat of chart 3: 120cm wide x 53cm deep

Pattern can be knit in 3 ply or 4 ply, simply adjust the needle size accordingly.

Errata: row 41 of the written instructions should begin with k2,yo, k3….

For the edging:
Row 3 should read: k2, yo, ssk, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k2tog, yo, k1, turn
and Row 9: k2, yo, ssk, k5
