This is one of a batch of patterns in my Textured Series.
It showcases the textures that can be achieved using simple vertical and horizontal lines in interlocking crochet.

Up and Across Placemats is SUPER easy and PERFECT for beginners. Seasoned interlockers would love it as well as it’s one of those “sit and have a conversation” type patterns. The stitches, for the most part, are repetitive across the row. The pattern effectively is a 2 row pattern repeat although I have written each row out for you.

My preferred yarn for these placemats was Luxor by Fibra Natura but any cotton yarn can be used
