Upland Sandpiper Scarf Crochet Pattern

This scarf is a quick project that is simple enough to stitch on the go, but interesting enough to not get tedious. It is a lightweight scarf ideal for the in-between seasons.

The geometric design is made with a combination of crossed DC and chain spaces. One skein of a Hobbii cotton cake will make the scarf shown, or roughly 800m of a comparable #2 weight yarn.

Finished object is 12” wide by 74” long after gentle blocking. Pattern made with StitchFiddle software.

Materials:

  • 3.5 mm hook
  • One Hobbii cotton cake like Sultan, Azalea, Pastello, Shadow, Dahlia, Azalea etc. Project shown used Black Friday cake, #2 weight, 800m.
  • Finishing needle

Stitches (American terminology):
FDC foundation double crochet (optional, can substitute a simple starting chain)
Ch chain
DC double crochet
X crossed double crochet (skip st, DC, DC in skipped st)

Following the Pattern:
Start with foundation DC or a starting chain. Pattern is worked on both sides, turning at the end of each row. Turning chain is two chain stitches and these are not counted as the first DC. Turning chains are not shown on the chart.
