I have always wanted to design a lace shawl. This one incorporates many of my favorite elements: Estonian nupps, gathered stitches, fields of textured stitches, and an interesing construction that lets me work in the round.

I worked on this shawl during my first visit to Yosemite National Park, where our family hiked the Upper Yosemite Falls trail. Traversing a 3,000 foot elevation change that included wading through water falls, navigating the aftermath of a snow slide, and hiking through snow, all to experience the breathtaking majesty of the falls from the summit, is an experience I will always treasure.

Begun with a provisional cast on, this shawl is worked in the round with strategically placed increases to make a rectangular shawl.
