This simple cowl will add warmth and style! A simple pattern repeat creates a chevron pattern with alternating knits and purls. This cowl is knit from the bottom up and starts with working the bottom border of scallops flat, then joining to work in the round to finish the cowl.

I suggest using our Alpaca Naturals yarn for this project, but any solid color worsted weight yarn will do. One skein should be plenty to create a gauge swatch and finish the piece. A hand painted yarn or a yarn with multiple colors might blur the chevron pattern making it harder to see.

Materials Required

  • Approximately 150 yards worsted weight yarn
  • US 5 circular needles 40” and 16” lengths or long straight needles and 16” circuluar
  • 10 stitch markers with 1 being a contrasting color or shape
