Upsets and Downfalls Socks
The Upsets and Downfalls Socks are the perfect pattern to add a little extra fun to your self-striping socks. Fair warning: this pattern is kind of addicting! Each stripe is like a potato chip…you can’t have just one! It’s easier than it looks and could be tackled by an adventurous beginner. The Upsets and Downfalls Socks were inspired by a song of the same name from The Ready Set. Try it out if you need something fun to listen to while you knit! :)
Purchase of this pattern includes a PDF with all the instructions you need to create these cuff-down socks, including directions for a slipped stitch heel, two different options for the toe, and a video tutorial of the pattern repeat for visual learners.
Yarn
50-100 grams (230-460 yards) of fingering weight self-striping yarn.
20 grams (90 yards) of fingering weight for heels and toes (optional).
Malia Mayed It Yarn was used by most of the test knitters, but this pattern would also work well with any self-striping yarn that has stripes at least 6 rows wide. The colorways used in my sample photos are Me Too and “I Am Iron Man.”
