Designer’s note
Why not add modern life icons to the repertoire of Fair Isle knitting? In ‘Urban’ bicycles and zebra crossings circle traditional hexagons. The sweater is the backdrop for city life in Amsterdam. Houses reflect in the water (neck line), lush green and blossom pink surround fountains in the park and apartment blocks are intersected by roads with zebra crossings and bicycles! Except for the yoke no shaping is applied to not disturb the motifs. Making this seamless Urban especially fit for those who love a sweater to live in.

31 sts/32 rounds = 10 cm/4” over Fair Isle pattern, needle size 3,5 mm/4 US, blocked.

Construction notes
Urban is knitted top down. Right after the neck ribbing German short rows are added to heighten back neck: these rows are knitted to and fro. Mirrored increases are used in the yoke part. The sweater is worn with ease. The colour chart for the yoke counts a multiple of 40 stitches. For body and sleeves the multiples count 10 to 20 stitches. A full chart schematic is included as to maintain the right order of the charts to be knitted. Preferably strand 5 sts at most.
