Urban Survival is a shawl for the knitter looking for a challenge and ready to brave their knitting skills! This shawl is a lovely triangular shawl that turns into an amazing asymmetrical fashion piece!
Size: 75 in/190 cm along the top edge; 26 in/66 cm along the center of the shawl. Shawl size may vary, depending on individual knitter’s gauge, yarns used, and blocking preferences. (Note: Measurements do not include fringe!)
Recommended yarn: 3 colors of fingering weight yarn in solid, tonal, or lightly variegated colors.
Sample used: Schmutzerella Yarns Dude (80% Merino/20% Nylon; 400 yd/ 366 m) in the color ways: “You Can’t Take the Sky From Me” (A), “Quench” (B), and “Life is Short and You are Hot” (C).
Yardage:
- Color A: 380 yd/350 m
- Color B: 240 yd/220 m
- Color C: 300 yd/275 m
Needles: Two sets of 32” US size 5/3.75 mm circular needles
Gauge: 6 sts to the inch in garter stitch on US size 5/3.75 mm needles
Notions: Stitch markers, stitch holder/waste yarn, tapestry needle, scissors.
Techniques Used in this Pattern: SLPYO (German) Short Rows, slipped stitches, increases/decreases, three needle bind off, striping, Modular Knitting, Fringe, and basic knit and purl stitches.
