Urchin
Urchin is a lightweight beanie with a cable-and-lace rib pattern that provides just the right amount of stretch and comfortable slouch.
Knit using a woolly sportweight/light DK yarn worked at a slightly looser gauge to compliment the drape and wearability of the design.
Worked in the round, with both written and charted instructions provided, this pattern is a perfect introduction for those new to lace, cables, charts or circular knitting.
Instructions for two sizes - S/M and M/L - are also provided, and by the stretchy nature of the stitch pattern, a generous amount of sizing flexibility is accommodated between the two.
Isager Jensen has been used, which is generally classified as a heavy sportweight yarn. It is a pure wool yarn with a lovely lofty spin. Shilasdair Luxury DK or Rowan Felted Tweed DK would both also be excellent choices.
175m - 220m required for pattern as written. Please note substituting yarns, not achieving gauge, or adding/removing repeats could possibly affect the meterage required, and allow for this when making yarn quantity decisions.
