Dress your stuffed animals up for Pride events, or any day you want to celebrate the queer community! This pattern lays out the instructions for each kind of striped pride flag, making it easy to turn whichever flag you desire into an adorable little sweater. Designed to fit my smaller-sized animals, the Pride sweaters are the perfect way to customize your Uszka friends for gifts (to others or to yourself).

Please note that the stuffed animal pattern is sold separately (Uszka Bear pattern coming soon!)

Size

These sweaters are designed to fit my Uszka line, which are the smaller animals. The sweater has a 20cm / 8” circumference and is 9cm / 3.5” in height. See the schematic in the images for all the measurements.

Yarn and Yardage

Each sweater takes 50 yards of fingering weight wool yarn. You will need 6 yards for each stripe for nine stripe flags; 8 yards for each stripe for seven stripe flags; 9 yards for each stripe of six stripe flags; 10 yards for each stripe for five stripe flags; 13 yards for each stripe for four stripe flags; 17 yards for each stripe for three stripe flags.

I knit the samples in Koigu Painter’s Palette Premium minis to easily get one of each colour, but any fingering weight wool yarn that comes in a variety of colours will work.

Notions

Knitting needles (DPNs or circulars for magic loop) and a darning needle.

Techniques

This pattern has some fiddly bits, including working small circumferences in the round and picking up stitches, as well as basic striped colourwork in the round and flat.
