Uszka Teddies are small, huggable critters in cozy sweaters, and are named after uszki, Polish dumplings whose name translates to “little ear”. Uszka Teddies are huge foodies, and love trying new cafes, restaurants, recipes, and homemade meals. They’re explicitly designed to make you smile, bring you comfort, and be a source of whimsy in your life.

Size
The finished teddy is 22cm / 8.75” tall, and 20cm / 8” around at the widest point on the body (not including the arms). See the schematic in the images for all the measurements.

Yarn and Yardage
The teddy uses fingering weight cotton yarn, and needs ~70 yards. I’ve used Scheepjes Catona in colours like Bridal White, Soft Beige, Jet Black, and Root Beer.

The sweater and pants each take ~50 yards of fingering weight wool yarn. Any colours you wish will work for these, and it’s a great way to use up leftovers from other projects. I’ve used Alley Cat Yarns Smooth Sock, Sunday Fibre Co. Barefoot Sock, and Sandnes Garn Sisu, among many others.

Notions
Knitting needles (DPNs or circulars for magic loop), darning needle, two pieces of scrap black DK weight yarn for eyes, scrap brown fingering weight yarn for mouth, polyfill for stuffing.

Techniques
This pattern has lots of fiddly bits, including working small circumferences in the round, picking up stitches, and attaching limbs. That said, the paid version of the pattern includes step by step photo instructions for the tricky bits to make construction as smooth and easy as possible!
